WHAT WE DO

The Men of the MRB learn and practise the wilderness survival skills developed and honed by the original Plains Indians and mountain men in the period from 1800 to 1840.
The Missouri River Brigade maintains a continuous educational program of American History, especially where such history concerns the original American Mountain Men. We actively participate in living history events, schools and field trips for the general public and select oranizations.

OUR MEMBERS

The Missouri River Brigade spans three states adjoining the Missouri River: Kansas, Iowa, and Missouri. We are one of 18 brigades in the American Mountain Men. Though we come from various ages, backgrounds and occupations, we are bonded in brotherhood by our love of history and adventure.

Words from the Mountaineers.

“Ain’t this something? I told my pap and mam I was coming to the mountains to trap and be a mountain man. Acted like they was gut-shot. Says: ‘Son, make your life. Go here. Here’s where the peoples is. Them mountains is for animals and savages.’ I says ‘Mother Gue, the Rocky Mountains is the marrow of the world.’ And by God I was right.”
